Union Pacific General Electric C36-7 (Late)

The late model C36-7 is idenified by the dyniamic brake equipment located in the large box on the roof behind the cab. Aditionally the horsepower was increased - from 3600 hp in the standard model to 3750 hp in the late model. UP also had the fuel tank enlarged on it's 60 units, resulting in the air clyinders at each end of the of the fuel tank being relocated inside the body. 12 units were also sold to N&W / NS.

The units were bought by Missouri Pacific in 1984, just prior to the MP/UP merger, and wore UP colors and MP lettering until 1988, when they were then relettered to UP. The units were retired in 2001-2.

This unit has Automatic Running Numbers (9001-9059) in Surveyor. The units were numbered four times. Through 1995 prototypical running numbers for the 60 units were 9001-9059. In 1996 27 units were renumbered 2603 - 2659. At about the same time 34 units were renumbered 601-657 (twelve of these were from the 26XX series and 24 from the 90XX series. In 2000 19 units were renumbered to the 7947-98 series, from the 90XX, 26XX and 6XX series. Twelve units remained in the 90XX series until their retirement in 2001. For the actual numbers used in the 26XX, 6XX and 79XX series see UP Diesel Roster at http://www.utahrails.net, as numbers were not assigned consecutively, but apparently at random. It is not advised to use the 6xx series in Trainz, as the mesh was set up for four digits, and doing so will leave a white block on the black front numberboards, where the fourth digit should have been.
