These sets of Bi-Levels would be built by Alstom in 2001 in Hornell, New York. These would be numbered in the 6000 series and evidently would mostly be used on the Pacific Surfliner later on, as Caltrans mostly continued the order of the Second Generation equipment for the Pacific Surfliner. However, Northern California Services such as the Capitol Corridor and the San Joaquin services would use very few of the Second Generation Bi Levels as the order was mostly aimed for the Pacific Surfliner.
