For some unknown reason these vans were designated as 'Ale Trucks' by the GER. The GER made their 'Ale Trucks' by converting older Worsdell era vans to this purpose. Ale and beer vans need to be kept cool so this was done cheaply and economically by drilling a series of 2 inch diameter holes in the sides of the van bodies. The GER was always a little short of cash for most of its existance.
This model was made using several not very good old black and white photos of a grounded van body and some fairly scanty sources of information so it's about the best that I can do. Uses Edward Heaps's high detailed wooden early bogey.
Thanks to PaulHobbs and Trainboi1 for their mesh library elements, many of which have been used in the model.
