Original model and skin created by Magicland as part of his 'Amtrak pack' on ProTrainz (former payware). ARN numbers repaired by gramma, skin modified and revised by me, Trainmaster189.

Original Description -
Simple, utilitarian almost, the F40PH was to Amtrak's roster what the Jeep was to the Army's arsenal. This beast of burden bore the railroad's customers for nearly three decades, seeing Amtrak through from the post-steam heating era into the age of Acela. Everything from hand-me-down 10&6 sleepers and dome cars to brand new Amfleet coaches and Superliners clasped iron fists with the boxy brutes from La Grange - Doug Riddell
First Purchased in 1976, these units have now been pretty much phased out of operations on Amtrak, though some live on without their engines as control-cab baggage units, or 'Cabbages'. They're still in use by many commuter lines. The F40PH was unique in that its engine had 3 modes of operation. The first mode was what most consider a 'normal' operating mode, as the engine's output and RPM's were tied together. The second mode ran the engine at full RPM's to produce a steady 60hz of head-end power for its coaches. It was this mode which was used the majority of the time. The third mode ran the engine at a slower speed to provide HEP for exteneded station stops, but couldn't be used for motive power.
Mesh originally made by LRV3400 with extensive modifications and detailing, as well as all skins by ProTrainz
