Fictitious story behind the fictitious reskin: The London Midland and Scottish Railway had purchased just one Class P2 in 1934 as a test on their Scottish lines, but it soon turned out to be way too overpowered and just simply unnecessary. The one and only LMS P2 was put away onto a siding somewhere in the midlands, until it was restored and preserved in 1994. It still runs heritage steam trips to this day.
Keep in mind that this is an entirely fictional reskin. No Class P2 ever wore any other livery then the normal LNER Apple Green.
The P2 Class was a class of 2-8-2 steam locomotives designed by Sir Nigel Gresley for working heavy express trains over the harsh Edinburgh to Aberdeen Line. As they were to serve on Scottish expresses, they were given famous names from Scottish lore. Six locomotives of the class were built; introduced between 1934 and 1936. Between 1943 and 1944 the class were rebuilt under Gresley's successor Edward Thompson into the LNER Thompson Class A2/2 4-6-2 type.
Thanks to PaulHobbs and Trainboi1 for their mesh library elements, many of which have been used in the model.
