This structure is a close resemblance of the viaduct crossing highway A4 between Vlaardingen and Schiedam.
The tracks are on a 60 degree angle with the highway underneath.
The bridge originally was ~70m long, but was extended to ~100m when the nearby highway tunnel was doubled and the attaching roads needed more space. As a result the eastern end of the bridge looks slightly different then the rest of the bridge.
The current construction gives room for 4+2+4 lanes of traffic to pass under the viaduct, of which currently only the outer 2x4 are used.
Next to the 2-track train bridge there is also a 3m wide bike path build on the same structure.
In 2011 about 132.000 vehicles passed under the viaduct on an average workday.
The 2 'gaps' in the fences are there to leave room to put catenaries support beams.
