Welcome to the Pits. The coal pits that is. This is a 2 player game, where the objective is to get all the materials needed to get a new Coal mine up into operation. You are to work together as a team, so it does not matter how many loads are taken by each of you. The mine doesn't care, it just wants it's supplies as quickly as possible.
Now you both start out at a mine entrance. Each entrance is fed by a different track, named for their Red & Yellow Signal lights all along each track Route. It is highly recommended that you coordinate the trains so that one train uses the Red track and the other uses Yellow. That being said, you will need to Back out onto the track first, then start your way around ,looking for the Junction point that will take you out onto the Supply Tracks. After you get across, you will find you need to pass through a turntable. Right beside each turntable is a Supply Yard. You need to stop at the next junction and Back your Engine into yard and pick up one freight car at a time. This is important, you can't turn in a Turntable with more than one Boxcar with you.
Once you are hooked up, its time to head out along the Supply Route. Company policy says that you need to obey the laws of train traffic. On most of this train Route, if a single track is already occupied by the time you get near, you must slow down, OR Stop, OR even Backup to allow passage. It's first come, first serve on the single lane track sections. Work is now being done to install new traffic lights, but until then our mine is forced to use flagmen with audible whistles at each end of the single lane tracks. There are 2 types of whistles being employed. The first whistle Warns that a train has entered a single track and the 2nd whistle lets you know that a train has left it. Paying close attention to which order the whistles are blown will help ensure your safety.
Note: Exercise CAUTION when nearing the INNER Supply Route tracks ( which lead to both of the turntables and both Shipping Docks). The company States that their trains are only Allowed to Back up on any of the wooden tracks placed along the Supply tracks. In particular we have had many drivers killed around each turntable track that leads to it's Supply Dock. Any trains Backing up along this section of track will be issued an 'ABORT' warning. Keep in mind that this is a fairly high speed traffic Route!! Good drivers get to know their maps. All company trains should be using their BELL when Backing up, as this will warn the others. Also, keep a watch out when coming near any of the junctions when you are on the rest of the Supply tracks. Although a bit of a longer course, using the OUTER Supply Route you can bypass the sections of track that lead to the turntables the Supply Docks.
Ok,sounds easy enough. Now you are to take your freight along the Supply Route until you past one of the turntables. At the second turntable you will need to stop in the center (with your freight car attached). Spin the turntable around. You now should be facing the Route Back to the mine entrance that you had started your Journey from. So, making sure the Junctions are set properly, you will find that you are heading the opposite way along the original Route to the mine entrace. Heading this way allows trains to Backup into the dock at the mine's entrance. The mine has asked for that both Receiving docks get 2 Boxcars on each of the 3 tracks. No questions on how it gets done as long as it is done Safely!
Finally, when you have finished moving all the freight cars, park the Engine on the wooden track found just off to the right hand side of the Receiving dock. Congratulations, you did it and SURVIVED even! Not a bad days work at the mine.
** If you want a quicker game, just chose to take less Boxcars Each to the mine.
*** If you want a tougher challenge, Have the 3rd Engine drive around the Supply Route as well. (Driver:Widget Max Speed:3 )
--more smoothing of track and landscape, some detail work , added more trigger events
