The Dublin, Wicklow and Wexford Railway had purchased 2-2-2WTs to replace the Dublin and Kingstown Railway Engines. The D&KR had been worked by the DWWR since 1856 and the D&KR engines were old, small and underpowed and in 1865 they needed to be replaced. Neilson & Co of Glasgow built the new engines in 1865, with one attending the Dublin Exhibition. All the engines were only given names, like the old D&KR engines. These engines only survived till early 1890s except for Kate Kearney, their demise was due to newly built coupled tanks. Kate Kearney was rebuilt with a roofed cab in 1887 as No.27, loosing her name. This was an experiment to try make some use out of the 2-2-2WTs although No.27 was a sucess it proved too expensive to do the same to the other 2-2-2WTs. Includes AJS Script.
