Seven MK3 Electric Generator Van's were built at the Derby Works in 1984 for CIE. Built to provide power to MK3 coaches as part of the MK3 Scheme to replace wooden coaches with steel bodied coaches. From 1984, the EGVs were in the CIE Supertrain Livery and from 1988 was in the IE tipex lined livery. In 2009, the MK3 Sets were being withdrawn however 4 of the 7 EGVs were transferred to NIR for use on the Enterprise where they were be used to power the Enterprise set which couldn't take the power from the locomotive. One EGV is in storage at Inchicore while another is used by the luxury hotel company, the Belmond for The Grand Hibernia, and is now in a Blue Livery and named Carlow. Many thanks to PFX for giving me permission to use his textures
