Two Executive Coaches operated in Ireland being originally built as part of a batch of Open Standards under built license from BREL during 1984-1989 at Inchicore. In 1995, two Open Satndards, 7161 and 7162, were refurbished as Executive Coaches. Each coach was fitted with luxury seats where by one coach had seating for dining and the other was a saloon lounge. Each coach had its own bar located at the end of the coach. These coaches were painted in a unique Rebel Red paint (known as the Maroon Livery) which was the only two coaches to have such a livery. The coaches were then repainted to standard orange in 2003/2004. The Executive Coaches were never part of a regular service and were solely for special services and charters, some examples were for the Wexford Opera Festival, Guinness Charters from Dublin to Dundalk and the Galway Races, Exhibitions, Irish Rail Staff Parties, the Radio Train and RDS Events. In 2009, all MK3 Stock was withdrawn, with 7162 being scrapped but 7161 was preserved by the RPSI. Although preserved, it was used as test paint for a green livery by Irish Rail and the interior of the coach will be stripped and converted into a dormitory coach for RPSI volunteers. Many thanks to Nexusdj and JN114 for giving me permission to reskin and publish onto the DLS.
