K1 Class(known as the Woolwich Class) No.381 was built at Broadstone in 1926/1927. The first 11 of the K1 Classes were ordered from Woolwich Arsenal as Kits that were based on Southern Railway's N Class but unlike their British Cousins they had no need for smoke deflecters. Designed by Maunsell for the Midland and Great Western Railway and were assembled at the M&GWR Works at Broadstone, Dublin in 1925 but then most of the railways became one in 1925, known as The Great Southern Railway in 1925, the rest of K1 Classes were later assembled by the GSR at Broadstone. This makes the K1 Class the last ever Engines to built by the M&GWR and the last engines to be built at Broadstone as the Works were moved to Inchicore like the rest of the railway works that became part of the GSR making Inchicore the only works for the GSR. The GSR then purchased a further 15 kits from Woolwich Arsenal and were built at Inchicore but only 8 of them were K1 Classes and the remaining 7 were given the Class K1A as they had bigger wheels. In 1945 the GSR became Coras Iompair Eireann as they joined up with the Dublin United Transport Company. The K1 Class were used for mostly passenger services services along the old M&GWR lines, Dublin-Cork and Dublin-Waterford. A Reskin of Jayhollands K Class.
