The Enterprise is a nuetral Cross-Border Service between Dublin and Belfast jointly run by Iarnród Éireann and Northern Ireland Railways. De Dietrich Ferroviaire built 24 carriages and 4 DVTs to be used as 3 sets of 8 passenger stock for the Enterprise service in 1996 at their works at Reichshoffen, France. The stock was combined with a 201 Class Locomotive and later a MK3 Generator Van in 2012. The formation of each set consisted of a 201 Class at the Belfast end, followed by the MK3 EGV, 4 De Dietrich Coaches, the Restaurant Car, 2 more Coaches and lastly the De Dietrich DVT, always at the Dublin end. The ownership of the De Dietrich sets were split evenly with odd numbered stock being owned by IÉ and even owned by NIR but it is NIR who are in charge of maintenance as IÉ looks after the 201 Class Engines. The Enterprise was introduced in 1997 in its original livery which was updated in 2009 to a Silver and Green Livery and updated in 2015 to a Silver and Purple Livery which it still is.
