Drive trains over a high, steeply graded, mountain railroad route with inspiration drawn from real-life mountain routes from across North America such as the Joint Line, Raton Pass, Horsehoe Curve, Mullan Pass, Stampede Pass, Tennessee Pass, among others.

Most of the route is jointly controlled by BNSF and UP along the fictional former Smedley, Lakewood, and Edwinsville RR (SL&E) connecting railroad, which connected with the SP, DRGW, and ATSF between 1890-1923. Although no longer a railroad company, it existed on paper for taxing purposes from 1923-1997 when the BNSF and UP took over after their respectful mergers. Now a major Class 1 joint operation, it's your job to keep it profitable and the trains moving!

BNSF trains are mostly through freight that run from the Zola Sub to Quentin Cutoff, UP trains typically run from the Calescaro Cutoff at Kirby Portal and loop around the entire route handling the majority of local traffic, and terminate at Quentin and/or Kirby. Amtrak also runs from Smedley to Edwinsville.
