Vinyl Chloride Monomer, or VCM. This colorless compound is an important industrial chemical chiefly used to produce the polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC). VCM is transported in Tank Cars as a copmressed liqified gas. Nearly all VCM is converted into PVC or vinyl copolymers. PVC is among the largest volume plastics produced around the world.
