The ALCO Century 424 was a four-axle, 2400 horsepower (1.8MW) diesel locomotive of the road switcher type. 190 were built between April 1963 and May 1967. This one was built for the CPR. In 1997, Canadian National (CN) sold many of their eastern lines, including the line between Campbellton and Moncton NB. New Brunswick East Coast (NBEC) was born and operated in that area. They used to own 9 of them, four being used for parts. Back in 2008, CN bought back some class III railways, retiring many MLW units. This reskin wears a patched version of the Ottawa Central Railway for the NBEC railway (ERS).
