The Victorian Railways Type 7 Louvre Van was built between 1938 to 1952 at Bendigo Workshops and Newport Workshops, a total of 250 where built and numbered 1217 to 1466, they had auto couplers with 3 link over knuckle and buffers.
During the early to mid 1950's stock where having their buffers and 3 links removed when all stock where being converted to auto couplers, this model represent the Vans in the more modern wagon red and in Metric weights, these wagons lasted into the early 1980's with most off register in 1979/80 for conversion to KMQ and a few to HD with the remaining off register in 1982/83.
This model represents the Type 7 U Van number 1260 recoded to HD 88 replacing the earlier HD 88 (U 152) which was condemned in 1979, U 1260 was in service for Departmental traffic from 1979 and seen around Seymour (1979) and Shepparton (1981) and off register May 1985, Step's were created by Zec.
