Although classed as rebuilds of the earlier B4 class, these were to all intents and purposes simply adaptations of Billinton's K class, fitted to a 4-4-0 chassis, the only part of the original locos retained being the front bogies. They were the last locomotives built at Brighton works for the LBSCR, being outshopped at the point of grouping. As no decision had been made on the new SR livery, they were painted grey, thus earning the nickname 'Greybacks'. Interchangeable headlamp codes - see readme.txt for instructions.
