A lower-quadrant, mechanically-operated, semaphore starting signal with operation detection is mounted at the top of a 22ft wooden post. At 10ft on the left-hand side of the post, a motor-worked banner signal is mounted. When the banner signal is off and the starting signal is on, the starting signal may be passed at slow speed onto a path that diverges to the left from the mainline.
The original oil lamp of the home signal has been replaced by an electric one. The starting semaphore can take 2 positions over the lowerer quadrant: horizontal (STOP), and -50 degrees (PROCEED).
