Drive an engine in forward gear until its train makes contact with a consist ahead. The controlled train stops immediately after contact with the consist. Prior to this command in the driver schedule, use can be made of a command such as 'Drive Via Trackmark' to bring the train to a point with a clear switched path to the nearest end of the consist.
The command script starts the train from a standstill with an arbitrary DCC throttle setting of 0.35 and uses the attained cruising speed at this throttle setting to infer the relationship between throttle setting and velocity. To allow time for the train to reach its cruise speed then gradualy slow down to the coupling point, a distance of at least 80m must exist between the vehicles to make contact (buffer up or couple) when this command begins to execute.
The user may choose to buffer up without coupling or to couple on contact. If the 'buffer up' option is selected, the command execution sets the coupling mask of the lead coupler in the train's heading (logical direction of travel), so the engine's train is prevented from coupling to the consist ahead. Alternatively, the 'couple' option does not set the couplling mask, so the train will couple to the consist ahead.
Use <kuid:368725:60017> 'Set lead coupler mask of train' to reset the coupler mask once it is no longer required.
