A wooden trestle bent (or pier) deployed by NSWGR in the early and mid 20th century for elevating tracks on a grade of 1 in 40 to 1 in 20. The corbels on top of the bent have been inclined at 1 in 30 and the top of the corbels has a mean height of 15 feet. Typical use was to raise a track's height to serve an industry or trackside facility.
