4-wheel wagon for NSWGR. Design approved in 1921 by EE Lucy and modified in 1924. Steel body with 4 side doors and 8 floor chutes with doors for bottom dumping. Equipped with hook-and-chain couplers (not historically accurate) and buffers.
The U wagon was designed to be versatile. With chute-covering floorboards removed, it could carry bulk loads such as coal and wheat and bottom dump them at a bulk unloading facility. To ease the loading and unloading of large items of machinery, the side doors and centre posts could be removed.
The asset script responds to the type of load to remove the floorboards or doors as appropriate. The user can command these removals using the Properties editor in Surveyor.
