These diesel hydraulic locomotives were constructed for British Railways in 1957 by the North British Locomotive Co., Glasgow. They were fitted with a MAN W6V 17.5/22A engine of 225hp, and Voith L33YV transmission. Fitted with vacuum brakes, they were often used in goods yards within Scotland's central belt, particularly in the Edinburgh area. This batch of locos were withdrawn by British Rail in 1967 due to lack of work. All were scrapped.
