The Santa Fe's 'Scott Special', otherwise known as the 'Death Valley Coyote', 'Coyote Special', 'Death Valley Scotty Special,' was a special train chartered by Death Valley Scotty in 1905 to run a record time between LA and Chicago under 53 hours. It made it to Chicago in just 44 hours and 54 minutes. The special consisted of just three wooden cars and were pulled by several different steam locomotives on different parts of the line. Only one of these engines survives today, ATSF 2-6-2 #1010 at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, CA. The observation car used in the train is currently located at the Double T Ranch in Stevinson, CA.
