Pinus sylvestris README
Pinus sylvestris, Eng Scots Pine, Finn. [metsä]mänty.
The Scots Pine has a huge habitat ranging from the mountains of Spain to the
Russian Far East and is also cultivated on other continents.
The tree does well on poor and acidic soils that are prevalent in the major part
of Finnish habitats. Specifically, the Scots Pine is able to sustain itself in a
dwarf form on marshes and bogs. This small collection does not represent
the great variety of the Pine well yet.
