Misc. Accessories Series Tin Bath Hanging 1
Hard as it might be to be believe in these days of en-suites and daily showers, even in the 1950s by no means all of the UK's housing stock had a bathroom as such, and for many a soak and an all-over wash came but weekly in one of these oversized tin buckets in front of the fire, with water that had been heated in pans and kettles over the stove or that same open fire.
As space was at a premium in the generally small rooms, the tubs would often be stored outside, usually hanging on the wall of a shed or outhouse. Older ones might be repurposed as animal feeding or water troughs, garden planters or coal storage.
