Scottish Buildings Series Rural Telephone Exchange
Even though the completion of the UK's Subscriber Trunk Dialling system in 1979 meant that manned (or usually womanned) local exchanges became redundant, many of the buildings survive to this day, some mow derelict, others repurposed either for continued communications, electrical supply or even community use. Since they were built to standard patterns, they're usually easy to identify: there are plenty to be seen in my area of rural Scotland, often extended or partnered by an annexe to cope with the increasing number of subsribers in the sixties and seventies.
