West Highland Railway Rannoch Station Access Footbridge
Rannoch is unique amongst WHR stations in having footbridge access from above: the majority have underpass entry to their island platforms, or else access from a road overbridge: Corrour previously also had a footbridge, but this started from ground level rather than an embankment, and was eventually removed in favour of a level crossing. There is a sort of level crossing access from an adjacent private track at Rannoch, too, (once the drovers' road from Glencoe), and this was used when the first bridge was scrapped, but later Corrour's now redundant footbrige was recycled as a replacement, albeit with one of its legs of steps either removed or partially buried in the embankment.
Whereas the first bridge had a straight angled section from the first landing to the walkway, the later one has curves, exactly like the Highland Railway footbridge I've already made, so after some complex 'cut and shut' I've produced something that's a fair representation of what's there now.
My original foobridge was made with reference to original Gmax source files very kindly provided by Marky7890, although in the event all that remained of his creation was the lattice texture, which I cut and pasted into a much larger mosaic: this new version uses lattice textures from the actual prototype, similarly treated. Even so, the help and inspiration gained from being able to examine Marky's mesh was absolutely invaluable, and I'd like to take this opportunity to record again my grateful thanks for his generous help.
