This is based on the very large (4000 ton capacity) coal tipple at Skagway, Alaska on the White Pass
& Yukon Railroad. There was no source of coal on the route so it was brought in from Vancouver Island
via steamship, unloaded into hoppers on the dock, and dumped into the top of this tipple by winching
full cars one at a time up the 10 degree sloped ramp. I have simulated this with a continuously animated
page dump car running up and down the ramp. This is not a real traincar though it (hopefully) looks like
one. This is interactive on all 114 chutes. 38 per side for filling loco tenders and 38 more underneath
for filling gondolas for delivery up the line. The large capacity was due to the 2000 ton capacity of the
ships that delivered coal and the fact that large amounts of coal were needed not just for the railroad
but pretty much everyone up the line. Many thanks to Dale Pattee of BSNG Eng Inc for his help with the
script file.
NOTE 1: The chutes are only 6 feet apart so trigger radius is quite small. Carefully centering the tender
or hopper under the chutes is a necessity.
NOTE 2: I suggest you add a short length of invisible track to the center track at the ramp end. This might
prevent a derailment and subsequent crashing of your session if you have a too heavy a hand on the throttle.
