This is based on the Girard Avenue Bridge which was built in 1873 - 1874 in anticipation of
the Centennial Exposition being held in West Fairmont park in 1876. It was designed by Clark Reeves & Company
and built by the Phoenixville Bridge Company. At the time it was thought to be the widest (100 ft) bridge in
the US and possibly the world. The trolly tracks in the center are on 12 ft track centers.
