In 1907 the Erie Railroad carried out
a grade separaton on Bloomfield Ave at the Intersecton of Linn Drive on the Caldwell Verona
township line. At that time Bloomfield Ave had the tracks of the Public Service Transportation
No 29 Trolley Line which connected with the Newark City Subway. In Erie Employee Timetables
this was referred to as the Bloomfield Ave Tunnel on account that the Erie's single track
ran diagnally under Bloomfield Ave. While I remember going over this bridge in a car I
unfornately never saw the structure at track level that structure is a best guess on
my part. The Caldwell Line was not transferred tO Conrail and only operated until 1977 under
the Light Density Line Program. This Bridge was removed and replaced with fill in 1997. The No
29 Line was converted to bus operation in 1952, commuter rail service ceased in 1966.
