In 1912, after a serie of tests and experiments Waggonfabrik Van der Zypen & Charlier in Coln-Deutz produced their first succesfull line of 4 axle steel body expres coaches for fast train service. All together 528 units were built for KPEV. After the creation of DRG next 436 were added. Their steel frames prooved to be so resistant to usage, that most of them were still used in the 1950s and even after retirement their bogeys and mainframes served for the new built REKO series. After WW2 a group of these coaches was taken over by Polish State Railways. Under PKP flag they served till the mid 1960s when they were finally scrapped. None of this class survived till today around Poland.
