In 1956 PaFaWag Wroclaw relased its new model of sleeping car, the 14A type. It was quite revolutionary design in the dominated by a narrow ended 1A, 2A, 3A and such carbody design. The designers were obviously inspired by the design of the prewar german Schurzenwagen, since the 14A class is very similiar in some ways. Its streamlined modern design was a new thing on PKP and sadly was not continued in any other passenger coach designs out of polish factories. PaFaWag created 15 cars of this type. They were serving mainline night trains till the Gorlitz 75 type WLABd coaches replaced them in the mid 1970s. Interesting thing is that the 14A carbody was also used for special government coaches of the communist government train. Some of them survived in great condition till today.
