Promenade pier based on that at Aldborough, Suffolk, but suitable for anywhere in the UK. Dates from the 1870s when piers were being built for promenading i.e. walking out to sea so as to benefit from the sea air, the view, and to board steamers. They are the precursors of the later pleasure piers, but you can add suitable buildings if you wish.
