DB 2ndt class coach Type Aimz with Interregio colours.
In the 1990s, so called Interregio trains filled the gap between fast Intercity and regional comuter trains. So they can be seen as a modernized version of the traditional German D-Zug. Like the Intercities, Interregios traveled at speeds up to 200 km/h, yet they served more stations. The comfort was high, a typical consist included a bar coach. Still Tickets were cheaper than for an Intercity. Regretably Interregios were put out of service in 2002 despite the protest from many customers.
