This tender for the Baden G12 freight engines was later designated pr 3T20 by Deutsche Reichsbahn. That meant, that it was of Prussian design, had three axles mounted rigidly into the frame and was capable of holding 20 tons of water in its water tank. The coal bunker on top of the water tank could hold up to 6 tons of coal. As the G12 locomotives initially had gas lighting, it had a cylindrical tank for coal gas on top the water tank. Most tenders were built by Maschinenfabrik Karlsruhe between 1918 and 1921. A few exemplars built by Linke-Hofmann-Busch in Breslau were purchased from the Prussian Railway Administration in 1918.
