Responding to increased traffic on branch lines the Grandducal Baden State Railways put larger third class coaches into service from 1893 on. A total of 106 copies were delivered up to 1899. They had two large passenger compartments, a centre aisle and two platforms at either end. Larger window area provided better daytime illumination. Night time illumination was provided by gas light. They had no toilet compartment. In answer to requests by the military, larger doors were fitted into the back and front sides, to allow use of these cars for the transport of wounded on stretchers.
