It stands in the district Cresta (or Creista) and is developed in the 1880s, at the same time as the Maloja Palace (then 'Hotel Kursaal de la Maloja'). Until 1967, she was the Catholic Church of Maloja and bore the name 'san Gaudenzio'. 1968 the Catholics moved to their new inaugurated church along the cantonal road, between Chesa Alpina Hotel and Schweizerhaus, and old chirch 'San Gaudenzio' was desakriert.
