This building housed the boiler for the Virginia and Truckee's Carson City Shops.
Built in 1874. The rear portion of the building was likely added in 1882, when the boiler from locomotive no. 2 'Ormsby' was placed into the shops.
Initially painted venetian red, this building likely received a green roof in the 1890s. By the 1910s, it was likely a caboose red color.
