Norfolk & Western Railway (N&W) Class Y-3 2-8-8-2 USRA Mallet (a mod of bdaneal's 2-8-8-2 USRA Mallet). This version makes use of several built-in assets in TS12.
The N&W Y3 class locomotives consisted of 50 locomotives built on the USRA heavy Mallet design, equipped with cross-compound air pumps twin cross-compound air compressors mounted on the smokebox front, with a small oval access door to the smokebox below the pumps, and a standard USRA gambrel-roofed cab. The Y3 locomotives used a USRA 12,000 gallon rectangular tender riding on four-wheel Andrews trucks. In the late-1920s the appearance of the Y3s changed, as most of the Y3 were modified, e.g., the air-pumps were moved from the frton to the side of the locomotive and the oval access door was replaced a round smokebox installed in the center of the smokebox front and the original tenders were replaced with larger capacity tenders.
