VR WW Class Workmans Sleeper - 1 - Ex American Saloon car
In 1874, the Victorian Railways purchased a 'saloon' type end platform loader passenger car from Gilbert Bush in Troy, USA. This carriage became the pattern car for a series of 'American Saloon' cars build by various 'butty gang' companies in and around Melbourne for the Victorian Railways. These cars went through multiple reclassifications (AA, AB, BB, etc), renumberings, and modifications. By the 1940s, these cars were becoming extremely dated, with some nearing 70 years old. As these cars were replaced by more modern carriages, the Victorian Railways modified these cars for use as Workmans Sleeping carriages. The main group of these were classed WW, and numbered 1-8 and 10.

This model represents, externally, a 'generic' WW workmans sleeping car in 'clean' condition, and is a basic representation of these cars for use to fill an empty siding. An updated version may be produced later with an interior setup (at this stage, the interior is empty). As occurred through their lives, the windows can also be 'blanked' over with timber on the ends, and blindes down the sides, using an option in the properties menu. The doors at both ends can also be controlled separately if desired.

This carriage also features automatic random numbering, animated screwlink couplers, and animated airbrake hoses/taps, as well as a functioning tail lamp (night only) and tail disc when placed at the rear of the train. As the interior of this carriage is empty, it may be suitable for creating your own 'interior' set by adding extra submeshes in. If you do wish to release a version modified in this way, please contact me. I may also be able to provide dimensions for the interior of this carriage if required.
