SAR 700 class carriage - #2
The 500 and 600 class cars entered service in 1937, with the 700, 750 and 780 classes following, and like the 520 class locomotives were equipped with roller bearings on all axles. All classes were standard on the country passenger trains to Port Pirie, Mount Gambier, and the broad gauge division of the Broken Hill Express to Terowie. They could occasionally even be found on Pinnaroo and Renmark trains. Frames and cladding were steel but the interior was lined with polished wood veneer and was superb.
In recent years Steam Ranger acquired nine of them and they still see service.
Converted to TRS from the MSTS model created by Alexander Jamieson.
