VR K Class 'Original' #103 interior view
The VR K class steam locomotives were constructed between 1922 and 1946. The first 10 locomotives were constructed in 1922 and 1923, and were numbered 100-109. These locos were renumbered to 140-149 in 1940, and had the 'modified front end' modifications done soon after. These mods changed the appearence of the locos dramatically, with new tenders and smoke deflectors being some of the exterior changes. Further K class locos were constructed from 1940 onwards with these modifications.
This model represents the original style K class locomotive #103 as it may have been prior to 1940.
