The Andrews truck was developed from the older archbar truck. This design substituted a casting for most of the archbar structure, but retained the separate journal boxes. The original version of the Andrews truck exhibited an L-shaped cross section on the casting which made the relationship to the older archbar design more obvious than later examples. The early L-Section Andrews design was replaced by the more familiar U-Section design by the end of the 1910s. This model is an example of the L-Section truck painted oxide red.
