Grade Crossing US 2 Lanes 1 Track Hall's Disc, also called a Banjo. This one is a 1946 era verson. The first one was built in 1870, which was the first electrically operated crossing signal built. The 1870 version did not have any lights in it, only a red disc which rotated electrically to cover a daylight lit hole. Lights were not used in any signals, even symaphores, until the 1920 era due to the lack of light bulbs.
