Introduced in 1957, in production until 1990 and virtually unchanged in styling, the Ford C series was the everyman of medium duty trucks at least in the US. Strangely enough, as a professional truck mechanic for 40 years, I didn't work on too many of these little jewels-but I remember a lot of cussing whenever I did, because these were a very very basic truck, no frills, little comfort, just a workhorse. I remember tuning up a pair of Fire trucks once in the 1980s that were C-series with Cummins 555 engines. As a kid, I remember seeing so many of these things hauling pop, beer, furniture, garbage and everything in between that I thought they were the only medium duty trucks available, right up until I began turning wrenches and discovered the real world.
