The EMD F40-C is a 6-axle diesel locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between March and May 1974. This locomotive was intended for passenger service use. It is powered by a 16-cylinder EMD 645E3B engine, which can produce up to 3,200HP. It shares the same common frame as the SD40-2, giving it an overall length of 68 feet, 10 inches (20.98 meters). All 15 models were originally built for the Milwaukee Railroad. They were later acquired by Metra and are now all out of service.
