This is a model of the railway bridge, as built by the VR Ways and Works Branch in 1914, to span the ravine through which the road known as Wairewa Road passes, which is located near the town of Tostaree on the line to Orbost in Gippsland, Eastern Victoria. The bridge is constructed in the standard VR Timber Trestle design and consists of 24 x 20 Ft (6 Meter) Timber Decked spans on a continuous 12 Chains (240 Meter) radius curve that is at the bottom of a steep 1 in 61 (1.6 percent) grade. Unusual in the design is the provision of horizontal bracing between the otherwise standard 50 Ft (15 Meter) high bents. The bridge reaches a maximum height of 50 Ft (15 Meters) above the bottom of the valley.
