This is a detailed model of the brige, as built by the VR Ways and Works Branch, to span the Nicholson River near the town of that name on the line to Orbost in Gippsland, Eastern Victoria, in 1916. The bridge is constructed from a mixture of driven timber piles, timber piles set in concrete and concrete piles, supporting a variety of span materials that include rolled steel joists and girders, wooden beams, a 50 ft (15 M) steel girder span and a 120 ft (36 M) main span of Half-through Howe Truss design.
