This is an asset designed to replicate a standard VR Flashing Light/Boom Gate Level Crossing installation. The asset is a self-contained kit, allowing the user to provide 'protection' from the lowly basic set of Flashing lights and Bells on a post up to a fully sophisticated arrangement with 3 variations of Boom Gates and an overhead Boom equipped with lights, as well as a number of options for variations in between. I would like to thank Paul Cass (pcas1986) for the unwavering asssistance he has provided in the creation of this asset, without which, this asset would not be possible.

  html-text1                            "Thank you for choosing to use this asset.  This is a replica of the crossing protection equipment as designed and used by the VR to replace the traditional Manual or Interlocked Gates on all level crossings, since their introduction in 1932.  This asset is intended as an independent entity, totally separate from the PCR (Public Crossing Register) with which it is associated, completely unfettered by any angle created by the intersection between the road and the rail and because of this, it cannot, under any circumstances, be used as a standard Trainz Level Crossing. The asset requires the additional services of the ATLS Level Crossing Control system to operate correctly.  Click on the ''Show Help'' link for detailed information on how to use the asset and the necessary ATLS set-up requirements."

  html-help1                            "You can choose to provide a Boom Gate or not.  If a Boom Gate is visible, you can select between one of three lengths: 3.5 meters (for a single lane of traffic) , 7.0 meters (to protect two lanes of traffic) or 10.5 meters (where the road is of three lanes width)."
  html-help2                            "The crossing has an option to include an overhead Gantry that will extend over the road. This Gantry is equipped with Crossbucks and a set of Red Flashing Lights, identical to those provided on the Main Support.  This Gantry may be visible or hidden, independently of any other settings."
  html-help3                            "The Main Support is provided with a Sign designating the number of tracks that the Crossing protects.  It is up to the user to set this to the appropriate number of tracks that the Crossing protects; the option allowing up to a maximum of four tracks to be 'included' in the Crossing.  In line with VR practise, the sign is NOT displayed if only one track is protected by the Crossing."

You may choose to provide a second set of identical Flashing Lights on the rear of the Support which will face traffic approaching from the opposite direction."
  html-help5                            "The HSI (Healthy State Indicator) is a Lunar White Flashing Light mounted on top of the Main Support and is used to advise drivers of approaching trains that the crossing is operating as it should.  This device should be provided if the Crossing is so situated that the driver would not have a clear vew of the Crossing upon his/her approach.  As with the Gantry, the HSI is independently selectable."
  html-help6                            "The Bell has two settings, which allow for it to ring continuously whilst the train is in the detection zone or to ring only as the Boom Gates are being lowered, after which, it ceases ringing.  This is to comply with VR practise, which requires that one or other of the two Bells in each installation ceases when the Boom Gates are lowered."
  html-help7                            "When initially placed on a route,  the Crossing is set to default with no Boom Gate, no Gantry, no HSI and no rear facing Red Flashing Lights.  The default ''Track Sign'' is set to display the ''2 Tracks'' Sign and the Bell setting is set to ring continuously whilst a train is in the detection zone.  In order to comply with AS1742, which stipulates that the Flashing Lights (and any supplied Boom Gates) MUST face on coming traffic at RIGHT ANGLES to the direction of the approach of that traffic, once placed, the asset should be rotated so that the long side of the short ''invisible track'' base is aligned parallel to the edge of the roadway (with the ''assembly'' properly located to the left side of the left hand edge of the roadway).  The asset should then be moved so that the edge of this base is alongside the edge of the roadway (or so that any provided Boom Gate lowers with it's end at the centre of the roadway) and the end of the base nearest the rail line just 'touches' the edge of the ballast - this will place the unit at the correct distance from the rail lines (for both a good appearance and to have cars stopping at the proper distance from the track).  Of course, for a prototypically correct installation, an identical unit should be located diagonally opposite this first one (on the other side of the track), facing in the opposite direction."
  html-help8                            "In order to be functional, the asset requires the user to have the latest versions of the ATLS (Automatic Traffic Light System) assets  installed and operational in their Trainz database.  At a bare minimum, the ATLS Controller [kuid2:76656:500010], the ATLS Slave [kuid2:76656:500017], the ATLS Trigger [kuid2:76656:500016] and the ATLS NRC Traffic Stopper [kuid:39134:102481] are required for proper operation and these should be located and 'connected' according to the following diagram..."

This means that this distance needs to be calculated using the fastest speed at which any train using the line can approach the Crossing (for example; if an approaching train is capable of doing so at 100 KpH, then the Trigger must be located 555 meters away from the Crossing)."
