Alamosa to Silverton is a terrain generated map of the former Denver & Rio Grande Western narrow gauge line from Alamosa Colorado to Silverton Colorado. The railroad reached Durango in 1881, with a branch built north to Silverton by 1882. Much of the line was abandoned in 1968, but two remnents still remain. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (D&SNG) a narrow gauge heritage railroad that operates 45.2 miles of track between Durango and Silverton, in the U.S. state of Colorado, and The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad (C&TS), a 3 ft narrow gauge heritage railroad running between Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado. The C&TS is the highest and longest narrow gauge steam railroad in the United States with a track length of 64 miles. The train traverses the border between Colorado and New Mexico, crossing back and forth between the two states 11 times.The route is 247 miles long, has 3120 baseboards, and covers 624 sq miles.
There are no 'Tiger Lines' shown, but small signs, indicating the location of cities and towns, have been placed along the track so that conditions in those areas, areas (Multiple track, yards, roads ,waterways, etc.), can be accessed using USGS topo maps or Google Maps.
